Join T444 B & G for a troop fundraiser AND get service hours for helping Prestonwood Homeowners' Association (our starting point is 6309 Warm Mist Lane, Dallas, TX 75248- the home of Jeff Kort) to distribute magnets to homeowners. We will need several scouts and parents to help with this project.

The HOA will provide donuts and water for participating scouts.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for us to coordinate which scouts will cover which homes in the association.

Project Management Training - Saturday, Jan. 8

Posted on Jan 4 2022 - 2:59pm
Venture Crew 728 will be hosting a Project Management Training on Saturday, January 8th from 9am - 12pm at St. Paul Catholic Church Parish Center 900 St. Paul Dr, Richardson. This is great for understanding how to start and finish a project as well as everything inbetween. This could be your Eagle Scout project, improving your grades or even researching colleges. This training will help you break down the big things in life into a plan that you can follow to completion.

Range Safety Officers needed!

Posted on Jan 1 2022 - 8:36pm

If you are currently certified as a Range Safety Officer and plan to attend the shooting campout, please email me directly. I need to coordinate with all RSOs to make sure we have proper coverage for this campout in February.

Time to submit Campership Requests!

Posted on Dec 12 2021 - 9:56am
It is time for your scout to complete a campership application. Applications are due January 10th. The campership committee will meet the following week and scouts will be notified by the troop treasurer of any funds awarded.
A campership is a request for funds to support scouting activities (details below). It can be for dues, winter / summer camp, high adventure trips. It can be for this years events or applied to future trips.  We accept applications twice a year and review them in the Fall and Spring. Members of the troop committee will review campership applications.  All of the following are considered:
  • Participation in troop meetings, camp-outs, service projects, etc
  • Advancement record
  • Financial need (while financial need may be listed as a factor for consideration, it is not required to be awarded funds)
  • Participation in fundraising
  • Scout Spirit
Please log into the Troop Websites: www.t444.org and select "Campership Request" under Menu to submit an application.
In addition to the camperships, Troop 444 will issue two scholarships for NYLT to cover half of the cost ($120 each).  Please submit a campership for this request with the NYLT session you would like to attend.
If you have questions, contact Alan Melson, Committee Chair, at [email protected].
Go to the troop website to read more about the background and implementation of our Campership Program.

Shooting campout assistance - range safety officers - training

Posted on Dec 12 2021 - 12:02am

Our annual shooting campout will be held over Presidents Day weekend in February. In order to safely run this event we will need certified range safety officers. If you are interested please contact me so I can schedule a training session over the holiday break or on a weekend. RSO training takes approximately 6 hours to complete, and will cost $30 for course materials. The certification is good for 2 years and can be renewed without additional classes so long as you maintain a current rating.  We generally try to have 4 RSOs at minimum for this campout - 2 for each range. I know the girls troop is not holding a shooting campout this year, but training is open to all adults.
